Maddalena Tirabassi, is managing editor of Centro Altreitalie sulle Migrazioni Italiane at Globus et Locus and of the magazine Altreitalie, as well as vice president of AEMI (Association of European Emigration Institutions).
She is in the scientific committee (Australian chapter) of the "Diaspore italiane project", collaborates with Living Transcultural Spaces based in Melbourne and is in the scientific committee of the Ferragamo Museum in Florence.
She was a consultant and researcher of the Giovanni Agnelli Foundation for a long time (from 2002 to 2010), a contract professor at the University of Teramo and was on the Advisory Council of the MEI (Museo Nazionale dell'Emigrazione Italiana, or National Museum of Italian Emigration): a Ministry of Foreign Affairs project for which she also collaborated on the exhibition “Fare Gli Italiani, 150 anni di storia nazionale”.
She has authored many publications on migration and Italics issues, including: "La meglio Italia. Le mobilità italiane nel XXI secolo, /2014); "I motori della memoria.
